Optimist International of Reno seeks  Junior Optimist Octagon International (JOOI) Clubs in our northern Nevada area to Promote Optimism.  JOOI is a youth service organization made up of Optimists Clubs for youth, and affiliated with Optimist International.  The Reno OI club is proud to mentor and sponsor young people through the formation of JOOI Clubs.JOOI-high-res

It’s Simple. JOOI Clubs choose FIRST challenges as a project each season among other activities and interests from the group.  That means JOOI helps you expand your scope and do projects that are in your interest.

Too easy, right?  That’s the beauty of being an Optimist.  Your interests are met in your way.  We give you the autonomy to do good, be successful and create impact.   Optimism is not seasonal.  It’s how we live and it makes a huge difference in the world.  We are giving you a platform to continue having fun, accomplishing things through your projects, and spreading optimism wherever you go.

Forming a strong JOOI Club    Each club follows the chartering and membership process outlined in the JOOI Charter guidelines.  Suggested guidelines are:

Students spread optimism wherever they go.

Octagon Clubs for ages 14-18

Junior Optimist Clubs for ages 10–13, and

Alpha Clubs for ages 6–9

Gather a few friends and plan amazing community, club and leadership projects.  Your team decides how and what you want to do.  Create opportunities, or simply do what you do best.  JOOI clubs can form with a few friends, or develop out of an existing club or team.  Your lead in spreading optimism strengthens communities and builds a brighter future.  These are some of the robotics teams forming JOOI clubs in our area:

    Hello!
I would really appreciate some guidance on getting my 11 year old son involved in a robotic/engineering/science focused program. We are in the Reno area & he begins at Billinghurst next school year. I am desperately seeking a genuine program for science minded youths – I cannot waste money on Camp Invention or UNR’s “educational” & “scientific” programs anymore. Anything you have to offer on something I’m overlooking in our community would be greatly appreciated:)
    Thank you,
    D. Harris
